Exclusive: Native Is Launching a Deodorant and Body Spray
“Is that the deodorant?” my boyfriend called from the next room mere moments after I sprayed Native’s new Deodorant and Body Spray ($14). The scent of sweet vanilla and beachside coconut wafted into the living room after just a couple of under arm spritzes. This is the thesis of the new two-in-one that acts as both a deodorant and overall body spray. Native is known for its natural deodorant, along with skin care, body care and hair care. This is the brand’s first foray into spray deodorant, and it’s giving consumers what they have been asking for.
Darren King, Native Vice President of Research and Development, gave us insight into how the new product came to be. “We stay close, and we listen to [consumer’s] experiences with our products and what they’d like to see next. We know that some prefer a spray to a traditional stick form. We’ve also heard them tell us they wanted an all-over body spray for scent layering,” says King. “So we did both!”
The new spray doesn’t stray from the brand’s clean, simple and effective formulas. “We focused on having clean ingredients (no aluminum, parabens or hydrocarbon propellants), a natural propellant sourced directly from the air (nitrogen) and Native’s amazing clean fragrance scents,” says King. With this new product, Native has “a unique proposition in the marketplace,” says King. The spray blends the safe and effective formula with a rousing scent experience. The most unique aspect is that the spray is powered using air instead of liquid gas propellants.
Trusting a natural deodorant can feel like testing your faith. I tend to be loyal to men’s deodorant brands because of their efficiency. However, I’ve found my new replacement in Native Deodorant and Body Spray. Through intense pickleball matches and hikes at high noon, this spray held up.
I got to try a handful of scents, my favorite being Coconut & Vanilla. It offers a burst of beachy scent for those that want to smell faintly of sunscreen all year. It layers perfectly with my fragrance of choice at the moment, Ellis Brooklyn Vanilla Milk ($105), although it’s just as great on its own. Other scents include tried-and-true fan-favorite Native scents like Cucumber & Mint, Eucalyptus & Mint, Lilac & White Tea, Sea Salt & Cedar and Sweet Peach & Nectar.
King himself is a spray user, so he’s personally excited about the new launch. “I love the convenience, the feel and the scent burst. I’m jazzed to finally be able to experience my favorite Native scent—Sweet Peach & Nectar—in the form I prefer,” says King. If you want to get your hands on this spray immediately, head to Native’s website starting December 13. The product will then roll out the rest of the year with availability at Walgreens February 3, Kroger February 5, Walmart February 6 and Target March 5.
