Essential oils have tones and scents that are earthy, spicy and citrus, which make ideal bases for more masculine scents. Essential oil blends for men are simple to create and wonderful to smell!

Recipes with essential oils for men

The best ways to use essential oils for men, is to blend them into either a cologne or a rollerball blend. Alternatively you can create a diffuser blend to give your space a wonderfully, warming, fresh scent.

Cologne recipe with essential oils

This is such a simple way to make an aftershave, rather than investing in expensive shop bought brands. You can make small amounts to see if you like the scent, rather than being stuck with a large bottle of a smell that you don’t like.

Keep the blended cologne in a small, amber, glass spray bottle, to ensure the essential oil blend stays fresh and stable. The base of the blend is vodka. The alcohol gives a base for the essential oils and helps to make the scent last longer on the skin – the base for most commercial perfumes and colognes is alcohol.

How do essential oils work?

Essential oils are the pure oils that are extracted from flower petals, leaves, fruit or herbs.  The molecules of the oils are so fine and pure that they have the ability to penetrate through the skin’s surface.

Each oil is made up of complex chemical components which together have therapeutic effects or actions on the skin, body or mind.

With topical application they can enter the bloodstream and travel around the body to have an effect.

The oils can also be inhaled and the molecules enter the body via the membranes in the nose, so in addition to enjoying the fragrances, we can get the benefits of the oils into the body here too.
